Letter: Rebuild the Fraser Street Bridge from Richmond to Vancouver

Dear Editor, As a Richmond resident, I would like to see the transportation network designed on a regional perspective, not just pushing the bottleneck down to the Oak Street entrance from the current Massey Tunnel exit.

As a Richmond resident, I would like to see the transportation network designed on a regional perspective, not just pushing the bottleneck down to the Oak Street entrance from the current Massey Tunnel exit.

Claire Trevena, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, and the Metro Vancouver Task Force should consider the possibility of rebuilding the Fraser Street bridge, which collapsed decades ago, to release the pressure of traffic flow from south of Fraser.

There seems to be alignment from northern end of No. 5 Road to Fraser Street on the southern end of Vancouver. There is Mitchell island in the middle to bridge over, which can make the project even more viable for truck traffic.

If we don’t want to see a traffic jam in 2030 when the eight-lane tunnel is finished, we should prepared for that extra mile as soon as possible, too.
