Letter: Richmond students' Christmas brunch blends young and old

Dear Editor,

On Thursday, Dec. 7, students from JN Burnett secondary’s Leadership Club hosted our annual Seniors’ Brunch.

It was a fabulous holiday celebration for 130 seniors from the Richmond community. They enjoyed entertainment from the Jazz Band under the direction of Ms. Freeman, the Glee club and Ms. Zuccolo, a visit from Santa and student MCs.

The students spent the morning serving soup, sandwiches and dessert, while also getting to know the seniors through conversations, singing, and even some dancing!

A big thank you to Ms. Musani, Ms. Cain and Mr. Thompson who worked with the leadership students to organize this wonderful event.

Elizabeth Li, Grade 12 student, and a team of dedicated students canvased our local businesses for donations of door prizes for our seniors.

We would like to thank all of our sponsors who helped make this such a great morning for the seniors.

At the end of the brunch, the seniors received a snowman ornament prepared by Ms. Taylor and her Art students.

Meanwhile, photographers from our JNB Photography class captured moments from the day.

Well done and a big thank you to everyone who participated and helped!

We are looking forward to continuing this fabulous Burnett tradition in years to come!
