Dear Editor,
Re: "Beloved Steveston fish 'n' chips outlet to close," News, March 23.
As a regular customer of Pajo’s in Garry Point Park, I was dismayed and disappointed to see Pajo’s is closing due to a flawed open public tender by the City of Richmond.
It has been reported that the open tender process included an interview with two park board employees. Isn’t that a conflict of interest? Who are these employees and what did they say?
Did anyone even think of asking the many loyal Pajo’s customers for their opinion? Was any survey done?
Or was it a case of the city staff knows what’s best for Richmond, never mind what the public thinks?
In addition, Richmond City Council found out about this decision in a closed meeting after the decision was made. Does this sound like democracy to you?
