Dear Editor,

Re: “Nobody Feels Safe in Richmond: Wat,” Richmond News, Oct 26

I have lived in Richmond most of my adult life and I have never felt unsafe or uncomfortable when I am out, regardless of the time of day or night.

The city is policed exceptionally well by the RCMP. I have complete faith and trust in the RCMP to keep me and my family safe.

I don’t know what agenda MLA Teresa Wat is pursuing in the article, but her very general statement(s) does not apply. Perhaps when she makes such comments she should refer to her constituents only and not the city as a whole.

She certainly does not speak for me.

I also do not understand how homelessness makes people feel unsafe. To me, they are two very separate and distinct issues.
