Letters: Richmond developers need to demolish empty houses

A letter writer questions why houses are left boarded up instead of being demolished.

Dear Editor,

Re: "'Smoke' spotted coming from abandoned Richmond home"

I don't understand why the City of Richmond allows abandoned buildings to be left standing by the developer.

They end up being broken into, set on fire or have people living in them.

Instead of been boarded up for years, as is the case of this particular house, the developer should be made to dismantle it as soon as they apply for a development permit.
