Letters: What’s the real reason for city’s traffic cameras?

A Richmond News reader questions whether the city’s new intersection cameras are serving its purpose
Traffic video cameras
Traffic video cameras have been installed at 110 intersections in Richmond.

Dear Editor,

With some fanfare early this year, the city talked about the intersection cameras they had installed.

There are now signs all over Richmond advising of the cameras.

However, I've seen no improvement in traffic flow and a resulting saving of gas and time.

Are these cameras not effective or is there another primary purpose for them?
