The Editor,
I was looking forward to a respite on Canada Day from the construction noise I am surrounded by at the moment with three new houses being built around me. A quiet day in the garden was planned, catching up on maintainance I have been unable to do because of the constant noise.
However, this was not to be. It was carry on as usual on the building site. Surely we are entitled to a little peace and quiet on Canada's birthday.
Any candidates who come calling for my vote at election time had better come prepared with an answer as to what they intend to do about the toolax regulations regarding building hours contractors are able to worth within.
While trying to do a little gardening amid the noise, I pondered Leslie MacDougall's letter June 29 and realized while her neighbours will be sorry to see she is "outta here," our esteemed mayor and councillors will not be. After all, her sold property will probably be knocked down to be replaced by yet another monster house, giving them more property tax dollars to play with.
