The Editor,
How can the government offer BCGEU government workers a wage increase when they have been stressing to other unions (such as the teachers and health care workers) that there are no funds and a net zero mandate?
The government is clearly lying about this issue. Why do liquor store workers deserve a raise over teachers or health care workers?
The school system is in dire need of money.
Money is needed to fund the teachers properly and in line with the other provinces, since B.C.'s cost of living is the highest in the country.
Money is also needed to fund the schools and provide resources that are desperately needed for the children.
Teachers in Richmond are expected to teach in rat-infested portables with no running water, washrooms, phones, or any other communication with the school.
How is this safe or sanitary for the children and teachers?
The government needs to be held accountable for their decisions and the workers that deserve funds.
