Reduce taxes, avoid future surpluses

"City reveals $4.5M surplus," News, June 6.

I agree with some of the allocations, but feel there should be help for some pensioners in Richmond who are on very low incomes and have to go to the food bank for help.

There are many other Richmond people who could benefit. This is the second year in a row that there has been a large surplus and we, the taxpayers, get no benefit from it.

Obviously, we were being overtaxed. As taxpayers in Richmond for almost 40 years, we feel that some of the money should go to those who paid it.

Our taxes should be reduced to avoid these huge surpluses.
