Even the food was 'very good' at Richmond Hospital, says letter writer.

A letter writer was impressed with the care he received recently at Richmond Hospital.

Dear Editor,

On April 18, I attended the emergency department of the Richmond Hospital. Dr. Shaan Pawa handled my case and provided me with great support given my diagnosis.

I was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit where I stayed until discharged a week later.

All of the hospital staff were extremely professional and greatly assisted with my recovery.

But what stands out for me is the overall care, compassion and genuine interest in my physical and mental health.

From the person who cleaned my room in the morning, to the individual who delivered my meals, to the nursing staff who cared for me and the excellent care by the doctors assigned to my case - all showed great compassion and understanding to determine the best course of treatment so that I could resume my regular life.

Before April 18, the Richmond Hospital was a building that I drove by and had some procedures done in.

Now, the Richmond Hospital will represent to me all of the people who worked towards caring for me so that I could recover and eventually go home.

I would like to thank Dr. Shaan Pawa, Dr. Monica Sihota, Dr Ashkan Parsa and Dr. Casey Chan for their professional medical care.

I would like to thank all of the nursing staff at the ICU; Maria, Ruby, Rita, Heidi, Jennifer, Anna, Candace and Danny. Their warmth and comfort kept up my spirits during my stay in the ICU.

A big shoutout to the hospital kitchen staff. The daily meals were very good.
