The Editor,
Re: "Airport improvement fee takes off," News, Jan. 27.
A tax is a tax by any other name regardless of the nomenclature trying to disguise it.
My letter of many years ago to you on the initial introduction of the departure tax is still valid.
The airport administration is answerable to NO one, and what is to stop the tax being increased to say $100?
The money required for expansion should be borrowed on capital markets and repaid with interest the same as every other company and organization is obliged to do.
Is there any wonder that so many passengers prefer to fly from Bellingham and Seattle?
