Canada's Reece Howden wins ski cross gold at World Cup in Val di Fassa

TRENTINO CHIESA — Canada's Reece Howden won men's ski cross gold Sunday at the Val di Fassa World Cup. Howden, a native of Cultus Lake, B.C., finished ahead of local favourite Simone Deromedis in the four-man big final.

TRENTINO CHIESA — Canada's Reece Howden won men's ski cross gold Sunday at the Val di Fassa World Cup.

Howden, a native of Cultus Lake, B.C., finished ahead of local favourite Simone Deromedis in the four-man big final.

Switzerland's Ryan Regez was third.

It was Howden's third World Cup win of the season.

Italy's Jole Galli won the women's event ahead of Marielle Berger Sabbatel of France and Switzerland's Fanny Smith.

Abby McEwen of Edmonton was fourth.
