Loic Kwemi has been named Canada Soccer’s futsal player of the year after finishing second in scoring at the 2024 CONCACF Futsal Championship.

The 27-year-old from Montreal scored six goals in three games, leading Canada to the quarterfinals at the CONCACAF Championship in April in Managua, Nicaragua, where Canada lost 3-2 to defending champion Costa Rica. Kwemi missed the quarterfinal through suspension.

Futsal is a five-a-side indoor game played in two 20-minute halves.

In the outdoor game, Kwemi scored in CS Saint-Laurent’s penalty shootout win over the Canadian Premier League's HFX Wanderers FC in May in Canadian Championship play before signing with Winnipeg's Valour FC in late June.

He appeared in 14 games with Valour.

The futsal award was decided by national team program officials.
