From the neonatal unit to the soccer pitch, Aaron Sandhar innately knows that charity begins at home – but it shouldn’t end there.

It’s not just a mantra, but a commitment that’s put into action with conscientious consistency alongside his team at Sandhar Trucking.

And that commitment was brought to bear with Sandhar’s recent $5,000 donation to BC Children’s Hospital, a philanthropic gesture that exemplifies his company’s dedication to lending a hand to multiple generations of Metro Vancouver residents.

“We’ve gravitated towards initiatives that assist youth, and we felt BC Children’s Hospital aligned well,” Sandhar says. “As parents, we understand how precious the health and happiness of our kids is, and we deeply respect the hospital and their commitment to caring for vulnerable children and families in our community”.

Sandhar Trucking’s donation was made towards the Social Work Program at BC Children’s Hospital. The program provides crucial assistance to families who struggle financially by providing transportation, gas cards, grocery gift cards and meal vouchers as well as at-home medical and feeding supplies, medications and nutritional supplements that are not covered by the government.

Sandhar Trucking is a multi-generational, family-owned Canadian transportation and warehousing company with more than 35 years of experience. And across those three-plus decades in business, Sandhar has become acutely aware that dollars and cents are far from the end all, be all.

“We believe that supporting organizations like the hospital is essential because their work impacts the lives of so many families, including stakeholders that we work with,” Sandhar says.

The company’s latest charitable offering is far from its first.

Sandhar Trucking has also made concerted efforts to invest in the health and success of tomorrow’s Christine Sinclair or Alphonso Davies, having previously donated $5,000 to the Richmond Soccer Association to help less fortunate children enrol in the league.

The company was also the title sponsor for the largest tournament held by Richmond United Football Club (RUFC) in 2023, the annual Thanksgiving Soccer Tournament and is the current platinum sponsor for all RUFC jerseys.

“We strongly feel that giving back to the community is not just our responsibility, but also a privilege,” Sandhar says.

Parallels abound between Sandhar’s commitments to its community and to its vast array of customers: distribution companies, manufacturers, customs brokers, freight forwarders importers, exporters or anyone that requires transportation or warehousing services.

The sheer numbers alone reflect that point, as Sandhar Trucking is one of the only Canadian companies that operates a bonded warehouse and has access to all ports in Vancouver, along with CN and CP rail. When put into perspective, the Port of Vancouver is the largest port in Canada and the second largest port in North America, where approximately $305 billion in goods is traded annually, with more than 170 trading economies.

Sandhar Trucking’s bonded warehouse in Greater Vancouver is approved to handle Canada Customs shipments, along with the peace of mind that comes from its six secure yards located throughout Greater Vancouver to store goods and equipment.

“We really care about providing high-quality service to our customers and we’ve built strong relationships over the years,” Sandhar says. “Everything starts with understanding our customers' needs, then providing them with a reliable solution and a strong communication channel”.
