For over 20 years, the Nanji family has supported a wide range of charitable initiatives in communities across Canada, with Richmond being the latest location for its philanthropic efforts. The team at Richmond Hospital is excited to acquire its newest addition of imaging technology — a leading-edge magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner—made possible in part, by a generous donation from the Gulshan & Pyarali G. Nanji Family Foundation.
The Nanji family’s donation continues their national legacy of compassion, generosity, and empowerment. Their personal journey as immigrants being welcomed into Canada has inspired a profound sense of gratitude and desire to give back.
Paying it forward
“Giving back to a community that has taken care of our family is important to us,” shares Azim Nanji, son of Gulshan and Pyarali Nanji. “We are dedicated to supporting charities that help enrich lives with hope and opportunity – the same way our family was welcomed when we first arrived in Canada. We believe that helping provide better access to health care is indispensable to making a positive and lasting change for all.”
Replacing a 15-year-old model, this new MRI scanner represents a quantum leap in diagnostics for Richmond Hospital. Significantly reduced scan times, coupled with enhanced image quality translate to more and better diagnostics, as well as enhanced efficiency and productivity for medical staff. Two patient tables fitted for the new MRI scanner will help facilitate workflow efficiency and minimize scanner idle time, ultimately increasing the number of scans that can be completed daily.
With multiple language options built-in, communication barriers are also dismantled, fostering a more inclusive, comfortable, and efficient patient experience.
"We are truly grateful to the Gulshan & Pyarali G. Nanji Family Foundation for their generosity," shares Dr. Jeremy White, a radiologist at Richmond Hospital. "Their donation has helped provide us with the newest MRI imaging technology which will enable us to do more than we have before with better detail.”
Promoting enhanced health care in Richmond
This isn’t the first time the Nanji family has contributed to improving access to and the facilitation of health care services in Richmond. The foundation also matched donations to the Richmond Hospital Foundation’s COVID-19 Response Fund up to $100,000 in 2020, encouraging others to give back by doubling their impact.
This latest generous contribution, Dr. White claims, will also directly contribute to improving patient care.
“Our medical imaging team is thrilled to have access to this new MRI scanner crucial to ensuring timely diagnoses and optimal treatment outcomes for people in our community,” he describes. “On behalf of the Richmond community, thank you to the Gulshan & Pyarali G. Nanji Family Foundation."
