Northern lights displayed over Richmond

The aurora borealis could continue on Friday night.

A glorious display of lights in Richmond skies have delighted photographers this week.

After a double rainbow was captured on camera by several photographers on Wednesday, the shutterbugs were out last night to catch the aurora borealis, otherwise known as the northern lights.

According to the Canadian Space Agency, northern lights occur when the sun's charged particles collide with gas in the Earth's upper atmosphere, producing small flashes filling the sky with colour.

Northern lights are expected to be seen on Friday night as well.
