Richmond drunk driver gets 90-day suspension, car impounded

The driver will also have to pay towing costs, according to Richmond RCMP.

A driver who failed his breathalyzer test in Richmond was slapped with a 90-day suspension.

A driver who failed a breathalyzer test at a Richmond RCMP sobriety checkpoint was slapped with a 90-day suspension.

According to Richmond RCMP, the driver of a red Honda was stopped at a sobriety checkpoint around 11:30 p.m. on May 12 at Alderbridge Way and Fisher Drive.

When asked to provide a breath sample into the Approved Screening Device (ASD), he "blew a fail," said Cpl. Adriana O'Malley, Richmond RCMP spokesperson.

The driver was given a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and his vehicle was towed to be impounded for 30 days.

He was also responsible for the towing costs.

According to Richmond RCMP data, 28 tickets were issued in April for impaired driving, an increase from 23 tickets in March and 20 in February.
