Popular build-your-own-hotpot chain opens new Richmond location

New drinks and a limited laksa broth will be available at all locations starting Monday.

A pay-by-weight self-serve hot pot chain is set to open another Richmond location after just one year, with plans for a third already in the works.

The second Big Way Hot Pot outpost in Richmond on Ackroyd Road, next to PriceSmart Foods, will open on Monday, July 15.

The popular chain is known for its build-your-own-hotpot experience with more than 100 ingredients including vegetables, proteins and noodles.

Patrons have the choice of 10 different broths and their pots are cooked in the kitchen by staff. A free ice cream is also offered after each meal.

The chain opened its third Lower Mainland location on No. 3 Road last July, the first outside of Burnaby.

Christiana Luo, co-founder and CMO of Big Way Group Inc., said opening a second Richmond location was "a natural decision."

"We have seen tremendous support from the community at our existing location, and we believe Richmond’s vibrant and diverse community will benefit from more convenient access to our services," she said.

"In fact, we are already in the planning stages for a third location in Richmond to further meet the needs of our customers."

Coinciding with the Monday opening is the debut of Big Way's new time-limited laksa broth and three new drinks, which will be available in all locations.

The address for Richmond's second Big Way Hot Pot is 175-8100 Ackroyd Rd. A grand opening ceremony will take place on Aug. 16.
