Two-thirds of the restaurants named in the long list for the 15th annual Chinese Restaurant Awards can be found in Richmond.
A panel of 18 judges, including professional food critics and frequent diners from a variety of industries, toured restaurants across Metro Vancouver to seek out the best Chinese culinary experiences.
The list spans a selection of dine-in Chinese restaurants, Taiwanese cuisine, food court stalls, Cantonese BBQ eateries, dessert shops and cafeĢ-style venues.
Richmond restaurants featured in the list include Bamboo Grove Restaurant on No. 3 Road, Cha Kee, a Hong Kong-style café on Cambie Road, Chef Tony Seafood Restaurant, Geng Shi Ji, which offers Hunan cuisine, Golden Paramount Seafood Restaurant, Hei Hei Rice Roll, Max Noodle House, Memory Corner, Osmanthus Chinese Fusion Restaurant, Rice Holic, Sea Harbour Restaurant, Suhang Restaurant, Sun Sui Wah Seafood Restaurant and Tasty BBQ and Beer Bar. The last two have locations in Vancouver and Richmond.
Other restaurants that made the long list include That Year China Restaurant, The Dolar Shop Hot Pot, The Fish Man, The Jade Seafood Restaurant and Yuan's Garden Restaurant.
The top 15 shortlist winners, called the Elite 15 Awards, will be announced on Nov. 5, at an awards ceremony at The Vancouver Club along with special awards which include the Critics’ Choice Signature Dish Awards, Best New Restaurant of the Year, Master Chef of the Year, Dim Sum Chef of the Year, Rising Star Chef of the Year, and Elite Service Crew Member of the Year.
A DINING by the Awards event will also be held at Chang’An Restaurant on Nov. 18.
The Chinese Restaurant Awards were established in 2008 and aim to raise public awareness about quality Chinese cuisine and create a platform for cross-cultural culinary exchange.
