Just Poké opens in Richmond

A Seattle-based poké restaurant is the newest addition to Richmond's food scene.

Just Poké officially opened its first international outpost in Richmond in January at River Road and Pearson Way, near the Olympic Oval.

Poké is a traditional Hawaiian dish and features a fixed or customizable bowl of proteins, vegetables and toppings.

Besides regular, vegetarian and vegan poké bowls, Just Poké also offers spam musubi, a Hawaiian snack made of rice and marinated seared spam prepared in a sushi-style, acai bowls, smoothies, and sparkling fruit drinks.

Just Poké is a fast-casual chain restaurant founded in 2016 by Daniel Brawer and Norman Wu.

Brawer and Wu started the chain restaurant with the goal to "give more" to the community and chose to work with local vendors instead of bigger companies.

The restaurant focuses on sustainability and is a certified as an ocean-friendly restaurant by the Surfrider Foundation.

They believe in environmentally responsible operations by sourcing line-caught-by-hand tuna and "Best Aquaculture Practices" certified salmon.

Their sustainable practices extend to using biodegradable and compostable packaging and silverware.

Just Poké opened at #140-6699 River Rd. and is open every day from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
