Richmond's "McLuchador" won the annual Steveston taco-eating contest for the second year in a row.

The defending champion of Steveston's annual taco-eating contest has won his second title while supporting kids battling cancer.

The fourth annual Steveston taco-eating contest was held at Little Mexico Cantina on June 30 as part of a fundraiser for the Steveston Wigs for Kids BC event.

Richmond resident and winner “McLuchador” ate 31 tacos in 30 minutes, competing against two other contestants.

Last year, McLuchador won with 26 tacos, beating former champion Thomas Chang's record of 25 tacos in 2022.

Chang returned this year but came in second, eating 27 tacos. Ian Bruce came in third with 10 tacos.

The three contestants raised a total of $18,000 for Wigs for Kids BC, with sponsor donors contributing around $52,000 for a combined total of $70,000.

The event is hosted every year by Scotty Olak, owner of Little Mexico Cantina, and Chris and Angela Dinnell of Dinnell Real Estate Group.
