Are you planning a block party this year?
The City of Richmond is giving out $500 grants for events that “build connections with neighbours, foster a sense of community and improve local safety and awareness.”
Richmond-based neighbours – two people living in different households – can apply for the grants until Sept. 29.
Events must be held between May 17 and Oct. 13.
Block parties can be held in a variety of spaces including parks, on local streets or on private property in Richmond.
Examples of neighbourhood block parties that may be eligible for funding include welcome parties, a barbecue or a picnic.
Applicants must show evidence of their capacity to host a block party and show a realistic estimate of the resources needed and the total budget required.
Application forms must be submitted at least six weeks before the proposed block party date.
For more information and to submit an application, go to the city’s Neighbourhood Block Party website.
