Richmond's Lingyen Mountain Temple (Canada) raised and donated $43,000 to benefit Richmond Hospital's birth centre.

The funds were raised through the temple's Bathing the Buddha ceremony and Lingyen Charity Bazaar. They will be used to purchase an infant bedside monitor and an incubator for the birth centre.

Venerable Master Tze Cheng, the Abbot of Lingyen Mountain Temple (Canada), described health care as a universal need.

“In celebration of Buddha’s birthday and Mother’s Day, we decided to support women’s health this year," said Cheng.

"We want to lend our compassion to help improve health care for women and the new lives being born in Richmond."

Lingyen Mountain Temple has donated to the Richmond Hospital Foundation since 2008, including contributions to the medical imaging centre, the COVID-19 Response Fund and the purchase of a new gastroscope for the gastroenterology department.

“We are grateful to have Lingyen Mountain Temple (Canada)’s ongoing support,” said Spencer Gall, campaign director of Richmond Hospital Foundation.

“This donation will directly enhance the quality of care and support provided to newborns and their mothers. We wish to express our sincerest gratitude for Lingyen Mountain Temple (Canada)’s compassion and big heart towards the people in Richmond and for improving health care services at Richmond Hospital.”
