The Vancouver Metropolitan Lions Club has donated nearly $50,000 to the Richmond Hospital Foundation.
A charity concert raised $49,000 to benefit Richmond Hospital's new acute care tower, the Yurkovich Family Pavilion.
“Vancouver Metropolitan Lions Club is proud to be a long-time supporter of Richmond Hospital Foundation,” said Anita Ip, president of Vancouver Metropolitan Lions Club.
“Over the years, we have seen the significant impact high-quality health care has had on friends, neighbours, and loved ones. And it brings us great pride to know we are positively contributing to that and the health of our community.”
The Johnny, Peter and May Reunion Charity Concert was held on Aug. 18 at the River Rock Show Theatre and featured Hong Kong Cantopop singers Johnny Yip, Peter Chan and musician Tony Arevalo Jr.
Funds donated to the Yurkovich Family Pavilion will address the growing needs of the Richmond community with extensive healthcare services to accommodate the growing population, according to Vancouver Coastal Health in a media statement.
This new nine-floor acute care tower will include a new emergency department, a "state-of-the-art" surgical centre with 11 operating rooms, single occupancy patient rooms, and a fully equipped medical imaging centre.
“Since 2007, the Vancouver Metropolitan Lions Club has shown remarkable dedication to enhancing health care in Richmond,” said Spencer Gall, Richmond Hospital Foundation Chief Philanthropy Officer.
“This wonderful tradition and generous donation will help us launch a new era of health care benefitting all those who live, work, and visit Richmond.”
