Richmond community members looking to get started on their Christmas shopping can visit one of the city's long-time-running craft fairs this Saturday.

The Steveston Christmas Craft Fair is taking place at the Steveston Community Centre on Nov. 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

It has been running since 1983 and will feature 125 vendors selling handcrafted goods such as jewelry, holiday treats and items.

There will also be a concession selling hot dogs, coffee, tea and snacks with all proceeds supporting youth and senior programs at the Steveston Community Centre.

Madhav Chhibbar, special events and volunteer coordinator at Steveston Community Society, said the fair has been a cherished tradition marking the start of the holiday season.

"The long history of the Steveston Christmas Craft Fair, dating back to 1983, brings a deep sense of pride and tradition to the community," said Chhibbar.

"It is heartwarming to witness the bonds formed and strengthened over the years, as this event continues to attract thousands of visitors."

The event is taking place at the Steveston Community Centre at 4111 Moncton St.
