Richmond Multicultural Community Services is celebrating Canada Multiculturalism Day on June 22.

An event to bring the community together and discuss multiculturalism in Richmond will be held next weekend.

The Richmond Multicultural Community Services (RMCS) is hosting a day-long event on Saturday, June 22 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Richmond Caring Place parking lot in celebration of Canada Multiculturalism Day.

Participants can expect information booths with entertainment, refreshments and speakers on various topics around the theme of building a community.

The goal of the event is to create discussion and understanding around "shared and divergent experiences" of racism and social exclusion in the community, and identify actions to tackle racism, according to RMCS.

This event is open to everyone and is an opportunity to help connect immigrants, refugees and newcomers to community resources.

RMCS is also inviting different organizations serving different cultural, community and age groups to the event.
