Crowds of shoppers took advantage of a sunny day recently to check out the Steveston Farmers and Artisans Market (SFAM), which is now open for the season every second Sunday.
This clean, well-organized market has a wide variety of agricultural and artisan products for sale.
It is a real pleasure to walk around this open, fresh-air environment and discover the excellent, locally produced food and artwork.
The market’s website uses this summary for their offerings: “Make It, Bake It, Grow It or Catch It.” All of this with friendly, helpful service. And food carts!
Best of all, the monies raised by the market go to support activities and projects of the Steveston Community Centre such as the Steveston Water Park and the current renewal project of the Steveston playground.
The market was started in May 2008 by the Richmond Agricultural and Industrial Society (RAIS).
The Steveston Farmers & Artisans Market (SFAM) is a not-for-profit operation run by a volunteer committee under the auspices of RAIS.
Upcoming dates for 2024 are June 2 & 16, July 7 & 21, Aug. 4 & 18, Sept. 1 & 15.
The market is open from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The Steveston Farmers and Artisans Market is located at 4111 Moncton St., Steveston. More information can be found at here.
