After students returned to school for the new year, the Richmond community has talked about the amount of cars and traffic surrounding school zones.
The Richmond News polled 1,265 readers and asked the question: Has traffic gotten worse around school zones this school year?
The poll ran from Sept. 24 to Nov. 7, with 60 per cent of respondents saying they have found traffic has gotten worse around schools.
A little more than 16 per cent readers said traffic has stayed the same while 14 per cent said they aren't quite sure.
Traffic safety around school zones has been one of many top priorities for Richmond residents and parents this school year.
The News spoke with several community members at the beginning of the school year with one East Richmond mother having said speed was the biggest concern in her neighbourhood.
Meanwhile, two other residents mentioned an increase in cars in their neighbourhood has caused difficulty leaving and returning to their homes during school hours.
Results are based on an online study of adult Richmond News readers that are located in Vancouver. The margin of error - which measures sample variability - is +/- 2.75 per cent, 19 times out of 20.
