World Leisure Day is observed on April 16 this year.

The City of Richmond is celebrating World Leisure Day this Wednesday with free and low-cost activities.

On April 16, events will take place across the city, centred around the theme "Leisure for a Better Society."

World Leisure Day is a global event organized by the World Leisure Organization. It aims to show how important leisure is in our lives.

Leisure includes things like play, recreation, arts and culture, sports, festivals, tourism and more.

This is the fifth year Richmond is joining in the celebration.

Community members can explore bat ecology at Richmond Nature Park, learn to write Chinese couplets at Brighouse Library, take a recreation and leisure tour at the Richmond Olympic Oval and more.

Activities are offered by the City of Richmond and its partners.

For a full list of drop-in and registered activities, visit the city's website.
