A Richmond child was crowned champion, while a second local talent won awards at an annual talent search competition on Saturday.
Victoria Liu, 12, was named the winner at Fairchild Radio's 2024 Little Sunshine Talent Search on Nov. 16 at Aberdeen Centre.
The talent search, which began in 2010, is an annual event for Chinese-speaking children ages four and 12.
Eleven-year-old William Ji, also from Richmond, earned second runner-up and the People's Choice Award.
This year's event began in early September, when six girls and two boys, aged six and 12, were chosen to compete in the final contest on Nov. 16.
The eight finalists spent six weeks rehearsing their stage presence, including how to talk, walk, dance, and practice their talents.
The final event features an opening dance, talent show, self-introduction and formal wear fashion show.
Talents showcased hip-hop dances, singing, gymnastics, martial arts and Broadway-style musical performances.
The winners and finalists of the 2024 Little Sunshine will be appointed Goodwill Ambassadors of the Winter Warm Wave campaign.
This campaign is an annual clothing drive to benefit the Salvation Army.
