A Richmond non-profit is working with local high school students to collect donations for Christmas hampers this winter.
Ceeds of Kindness is organizing a Christmas charity hamper event to help underprivileged families during the holiday season.
The goal is to assemble and deliver 150 hampers with essentials like food, hygiene products and festive treats by Dec. 1. Hampers will be delivered on Dec. 7 and 8.
The non-profit still needs non-perishable food, hygiene products, small children's gifts and festive treats to complete the hampers.
Students from Steveston-London, Burnett, Cambie and Richmond Secondary schools have been spreading the word in their schools and door-knocking in the Richmond neighbourhoods to gather donations, according to Carbo Ngai, founder of Ceeds of Kindness.
"Ceeds of Kindness was inspired to create this hamper event as part of our mission to teach children and youth the importance of kindness and social responsibility," said Ngai.
"The holiday season is a time for giving, and we want to spread the message that even small acts of kindness can have a significant impact."
She added that the initiative aims to "foster a sense of community, compassion and generosity" to support those in need.
Donations can be dropped off at partnering businesses including the Metropolitan Conservatory of Music in Richmond, Helios TCM Clinics in Vancouver and Richmond as well as Oxygen Yoga Sunset in Vancouver.
