One of B.C.'s largest toy drives is returning to Richmond this weekend to support kids at BC Children's Hospital.

The fifth annual "Bear's Toy and Devices Drive," hosted by Dreams on Wheels, will be held at Trove, near Westminster Highway and Knight St., on Nov. 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Two friends, Landon Brown, 22, who works in Richmond's automotive industry, and Jonathan "Bear" Yeung, 14, are once again leading the toy and tablet drive to help kids feel less isolated at BC Children's Hospital.

The initiative began in 2020 when the pair learned about the "severe restrictions on visitors" at the hospital during the Covid-19 pandemic and decided to collect toys and tables to help young patients stay connected with their family and friends.

Brown and Yeung share the believe that “sickness never takes a holiday."

“The kids at BC Children’s Hospital rely on our mission year-round," said Yeung.

"The toys and devices we gather are distributed during the holidays and throughout the year, marking a significant responsibility for us.”

Community members are also invited to join the delivery event. The Vancouver Police Department will lead the delivery procession to BC Children's Hospital on Dec. 10 in the morning.

Donations are welcomed at The Trove Club at #130-13880 Wireless Way.
