Blair elementary is covered in scaffolding and construction workers were busy on Tuesday removing the outside layer of the school in preparation for envelope replacement.
The project started Friday, just as spring break commenced, and work will continue through spring and summer with an aim of finishing by Labour Day.
In addition to the second-floor outside envelope being replaced, the school will also get new windows.
The budget for the project was estimated at $3.2 million in 2021.
The school, which is located on Lynas Lane just north of Granville Avenue, opened in 1997.
