Cadets from Richmond’s Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps have yet again swept up great awards across the country over the summer.
They are all part of the corps’ (2947) 39 Service Battalion, which garnered honours across Canada and Europe.
Sgt. Noah Young was awarded the Bashaw Memorial Bursary for most outstanding and dedicated staff cadet at Vernon Cadet Training Centre.
He was employed as a team leader for expedition courses, mentoring and guiding youth through six weeks of canoeing, mountain biking, and training.
Warrant officer Daniel Cai represented Canada on the world stage. He was part of the national rifle team and travelled to Bisley, UK to take part in international marksmanship competitions.
Cai made several top three placements during his summer amongst Canadian and international competitors.
Sgt. Emily Chao took part in the full-bore phase 1 marksmanship course, held in Ottawa. Chao made several top three and champion placements during her time on course, and was named the overall top shot on course.
Master Cpl. Viann Fung and Cpl. Siyoun Lee were named top cadet in platoon on the six-week drill and ceremonial instructor course and two-week general training courses respectively.
They were selected out of thirty other candidates in their courses, based on leadership, performance on assessments, and attitude.
