Steveston dog parade returns this weekend

Both owners and dogs are encouraged to dress up in festive costumes.

Dogs dressed up in holiday costumes are expected to take over the Steveston boardwalk this weekend.

Steveston Merchants Association is hosting its annual Steveston Holiday Dog Parade at 11 a.m. on Dec. 15.

The parade starts from Phoenix Pond bridge under the balloon arch and will end at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site.

Owners are encouraged to dress up and their dogs up as Santa, an elf, a reindeer, or any holiday-themed costumes for the parade.

A reminder to all owners that dogs must be leashed and be cautious of the slippery boardwalk.

Dog photos with Santa will be taken from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. in front of the Gulf of Georgia Cannery.

Parking is available at Britannia Shipyards off Railway Avenue at Westwater Drive.
