Family Day weekend is right around the corner – but even with COVID-19 restrictions in place, there’s still plenty of virtual, and indoor or outdoor activities for families to participate in.
The City of Richmond has over 40 family-friendly activities to choose from between Saturday, Feb. 13 and Monday, Feb. 15.
All of the activities are either virtual or physically-distanced, and meet the city and province's health and safety guidelines.
Some of the activities include:
- Picking up a mini free sketchbook from noon to 4 p.m. at Britannia Shipyards and finding a quiet area among the acres of parkland to sketch, either on your own or with your household
- Getting creative (and maybe a little bit messy) in a virtual or in-person craft session, such as a clay doughnut art workshop, DIY photo frame craft and balloon twisting 101
- An online magic show
- Online Jazz Dance, Tap Dace, Yoga, Zumba or Bollywood Bhangra Fusion sessions
- Gathering online with others to socialize and learn with the Show and Tell and Scavenger Hunt, and Storytime with a Naturalist
- Taking in “Inaction,” the new sculptural and performance-based installation at the Richmond Art Gallery
- Signing up for a registered family swim at the Minoru Centre for Active Living or skating at Minoru Arenas
- Going for a walk along the trails in Richmond Nature Park, Terra Nova Rural Park or Garry Point Park
