The annual site of thousands of snow geese in Richmond was captured in a video by a Richmondite and shared on social media.

Shannon Unrau recently videoed a massive flock of snow geese enjoying their morning along the Fraser River’s middle arm dike trail and posted it to the Community of Richmond BC Facebook group.

“I’ve seen them before in Richmond (often in Terra Nova or the west dyke trails), but this is the first time this season I had seen such a big group of them up close on my daily walk.

“It’s definitely a unique sight to see so many birds that have flown so far to spend some months here. They don’t seem phased by the public walking by and photographing them,” Unrau told the Richmond News, adding that they seem friendlier than Canadian geese.

Unrau also captured a video of them flying over to the sky.

These snow geese come all the way from Siberia to spend a couple of months in southern B.C and Washington State, usually on their way to California.
