Four Richmond students are heading to Squamish next week to represent their region at the 2018 BC Provincial Heritage Fair.
In May, 140 students from 13 Richmond schools presented projects at the Richmond Heritage Regional Fair. Projects were then selected for their thoughtful consideration of historical significance, research and creative display.
The students and projects representing Richmond are:
• The Canadian Walkie-Talkie: Its Impact on the World of Communication by Shreyanshikumari Vala, Grade 6, Diefenbaker Elementary
• Nunavut: A Treasure in Canada by Colin Yeung, Grade 7, Cornerstone Christian Academy
• Marina Nemat: “Live to Testify” for Human Rights by Christi Cheung, Grade 7, Cornerstone Christian Academy
• Une Goutte de Sang Royal by Nicholas Sgarbi, Grade 6, Whiteside Elementary School
The BC Provincial Heritage Fair will host 65 students from 13 regions across the province from July 4 to July 8. Included in the fair are historical visits to the West Coast Railway Park, Sea to Sky Gondola and a walking tour of downtown Squamish. Projects will be on display at the Britannia Mining Museum on Saturday, July 11 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
