Richmond residents in the area of Steveston Highway and Shell Road woke up Monday morning to the sight of a badly-burned bus shelter.
Richmond News reader Jake Hewer took this shot of what’s left of the shelter on Steveston Highway, close to Shell Road.
Caution tape surrounded the shelter and it appears as if foam has been used to extinguish the blaze.
A spokesperson for Richmond Fire-Rescue (RFR) told the News that firefighters attended the scene of a “rubbish fire” at the shelter on Sunday evening.
It appears that the garbage can at the shelter was on fire the crew quickly extinguished it.
RFR’s Fire Prevention department is investigating the origin and/or cause.
