A small, niche park behind the Steveston Post Office, called Steveston Town Square park, is set for a renovation after Richmond City Council approved a $250,000 concept plan that features a Japanese Torii gate and Suikinkutsu sounding bell.

The features are said to compliment the newly renovated Japanese Fishermen’s Benevolent Society Building.

The Suikinkutsu is sourced from Richmond’s sister city Wakayama.

A parks report notes there will be more seating in the little park.

Big Red the dog’s permanent dog dish will remain in the park.
