A historic pub in Steveston could be converted into five hotel suites.

The Buck & Ear Pub, located at the Steveston Hotel, is the subject of a heritage alteration application that could see the pub area renovated into hotel suites.

The building was constructed in 1895 and was historically known as the Sockeye Hotel.

The architect applicant Kanaris Demetre told the Richmond News of the plans, confirming it would mean the closure of the pub.

The application, submitted to the City of Richmond, is to put in new windows and doors and add more windows.

The Buck & Ear at 12111 Third Avenue, a protected heritage property, is currently zoned for hotel use, among other uses.
