Car parked on Richmond park pedestrian path sparks confusion

Parking in unauthorized areas, like trails on Garden City Lands, can result in a $150 fine.

Richmondites are known for their interesting parking choices, and a new one was just been added to the list: the walking path in Garden City Lands.

Motorists and pedestrians alike were confused to see a car parked on the path near Garden City Rd and Alderbridge Way on Wednesday afternoon.

According to city spokesperson Clay Adams, parking a car in an unauthorized area, such as a trail in Garden City Lands, could result in a $150 fine under city bylaws. However, the car had apparently disappeared before city staff arrived, and staff could not confirm if it was an authorized city vehicle.

Adams added that a similar complaint was made earlier this year, but it turned out to be a car linked to city contractors working in the area.
