Conservatives name candidate in Richmond-Steveston

The Conservatives were the second most popular party in B.C. in a November Abacus Data poll.

Michelle Molineaux has been named as the BC Conservative candidate for Richmond-Steveston.

The Conservative Party of BC has one candidate so far running in Richmond in the provincial election, expected to be held this fall.

Michelle Mollineaux, who has worked for the past 25 years in the high-tech sector, is running in the riding of Richmond-Steveston, currently held by MLA Kelly Greene.

Mollineaux is currently the director of marketing at ZE PowerGroup.

According to a Abacus Data poll, done in late November, the BC Conservatives were polling second with 26 per cent in a survey of 1,000 British Columbians.

The BC NDP were at the top of the polls at 44 per cent, and the BC United Party, formerly the BC Liberals, were third at 17 per cent.

The margin of error is +/- 3.1%, 19 times out of 20, according Abacus Data.

The BC Conservatives are led by John Rustad, a former BC Liberal MLA.

The Conservatives currently have two MLAs in the B.C. legislature.

The election is expected to be held on Oct. 19.
