COVID-19 weekly cases rise to 16 in Richmond

COVID-19 cases are up in Richmond this week.

There’s been a slight uptick in COVID-19 cases this past week in Richmond.

After only three cases were reported in the previous week, it seems 16 cases were detected in Richmond between July 4 and July 10, according to data released by the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC).

In the meantime, vaccination rates are inching up in Richmond, with residents in Steveston having the widest coverage so far.

According to the BCCDC, 85 per cent of Stevestonites aged 12 and older have at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, up from 84 per cent last week.

At 77 per cent, the Broadmoor area has the lowest vaccination rate, followed by Blundell at 78 per cent.

Across B.C., as of Thursday, 79.4 per cent (3,681,088) of eligible people 12 and older had received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 48.6 per cent (2,253,818) had received their second dose.
