On Tuesday, Richmond RCMP issued a plea for help in finding Shawn George James Mcwilliams, who police referred to as a "domestic violence offender."

He was wanted in connection with a host of warrants, including 19 counts of breaching court ordered conditions, as well as two counts of assault with a weapon, six counts of assault, two counts of pointing a firearm, forcible confinement, uttering threats, anal intercourse, sexual assault, sexual assault with a weapon and kidnapping.

But following a Crime Stoppers tip, Mcwilliams was arrested Tuesday evening without incident in the 1800-block of Commercial Drive by officers from the Vancouver Police Department. Mcwilliams attended court on Wednesday morning in Surrey.

Richmond RCMP thanked the community for helping police capture a "very dangerous" offender.

Mcwilliams, who also uses the name James, has an extensive criminal history for a variety of offences dating back to 1989.
