Update: Power back on for more than 5,000 Richmond residents

Thousands of Richmond residents lost power on Wednesday.

Power outages affecting Steveston and Thompson residents have now been resolved.

According to BC Hydro's outage map, 4,565 customers lost power shortly after 1:30 p.m. due to the snow storm on Wednesday in the area west of Thirlmere Drive, south of Francis Road and north of Hayashi Court.

Another power outage was reported in the Thompson area, where 957 customers were affected by an outage caused by a tree down across wires.

The outage, which affected north of Westminster Highway, south of Inglis Drive, west of River Road and east of No. 1 Road, also happened around 1:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, an earlier outage in south Richmond affecting 2,251 BC Hydro customers due to a downed wire has also been resolved.
