An employee at the Real Canadian Superstore on Scott Road in North Delta has tested positive for COVID-19.

Loblaw Companies Ltd. this week confirmed the result on a presumptive test but won’t provide any other details on the employee, other than the last shift worked was Aug. 16.

The company on its websites posts all confirmed cases at its stores.

The company says it’s prepared for all possible situations, including a positive test for COVID-19 in stores. In these cases, the company works closely with public health and follow their guidance to ensure proper notification of close contacts and required cleaning and sanitization in stores.

The company has also said masks will be required inside all Superstore and No Frills locations across Canada starting on Aug. 29.

Last week, Fraser Health declared an outbreak at Loblaws Inc., a distribution centre located on 190th Street in Surrey, after several staff working at the facility tested positive for the disease.

That facility is operating at normal capacity.

Fraser Health notes there is no demonstrated evidence that COVID-19 is transmitted through consumption of packaged foods, is a foodborne illnesses or is linked to transmission of any foodborne illnesses
