Flair and Sunwing are two Canadian airlines with some of the highest number of complaints across the country.

The top spot, however, went to the now-bankrupt Lynx Air.

A recent report by the Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) gives the average number of complaints per 100 flights operated by Canadian airlines from April 2023 to June 2024.

Complaints were submitted to the CTA after passengers attempted to resolve issues directly with the airlines, who had 30 days to respond.

Lynx Air, which went bankrupt in February 2024, had an average of 18.9 complaints per 100 flights – the highest of all Canadian airlines.

Flair Airlines, one of the largest low-cost airlines in Canada, was the second in the country with an average of 15 complaints per 100 flights.

In third spot was Swoop with 13.7. Swoop was WestJet’s low-cost subsidiary that was reintegrated into its parent company in October 2023.

Sunwing Airlines was fourth with 11.4 complaints per 100 flights, followed by Canada Jetlines with 5.6, WestJet with 5.2, and Air Canada with 5.

Airlines with the lowest complaints per 100 flights were Air Transat at 3.2, Nolinor Aviation at 1.7 and Porter Airlines with an average of 1.3 complaints.

The foreign airline operating flights in and out of Vancouver International Airport with the highest number of complaints was Air India with an average of 20, followed by Lufthansa with 17 and Turkish Airlines with 16.1.

Some of the foreign airlines with the lowest complaints were Delta with 1.1 and Japan Airlines, United Airlines and Icelandair, which all had 1.6 complaints per 100 flights.

The News reached out to several airlines for comment, but didn't receive a reply before publication.
