About four months ago, this would be nothing to celebrate.
But this morning, regular gas per litre fell below the $2 mark in Richmond for only the second time since early spring.
According to GasBuddy.com, SuperSave on No. 5 Road, the relative saviour of motorists in Richmond, was serving it up at 197.9 cents.
Not far behind was the Chevron on Westminster Highway and the Petro-Can on Granville, both dialing in at 199.9, along with the other Chevron at Cambie.
The prices represent a significant drop in the last 48 hours, some plummeting as much as 14 cents per litre of regular.
Gas analysts predicted the fall earlier this week, noting that it’s part of a global trend as wholesale gas prices decline due to a small improvement in supply, while the biggest driver is concerns around an economic slowdown.
