The top earner among City of Richmond staff in 2022 was its new chief administrative officer Serena Lusk whose salary is listed as $315,991.
Lusk was an internal hire to replace out-going CAO George Duncan and stepped into the role in the middle of the year.
Therefore, her salary doesn’t match those of other CAOs in the region.
City of Surrey city manager Vince Lalonde, who recently announced his retirement, earned $411,198 in 2022, and Burnaby city manager Leon Gous earned $353,046 in the same year.
The city – along with other public bodies - is required once a year to list the salaries of all employees who earn more than $75,000 per year.
Other top earners in Richmond include city managers and the city’s top lawyer Anthony Capuccinello, who earned $269,895 in 2022.
At the top of the pay scale were several city general managers – those of planning and development, community safety, engineering & public works and finance & corporate services.
As for city council, whose salaries were released in the same report, Richmond Mayor Malcolm Brodie earned $186,596 in 2022.
This was slightly less than Burnaby Mayor Mike Hurley who earned $189,863 in the same year.
